Lawyer writes Ekiti State Government, demands details of finances

An Ekiti State-based lawyer, Adeoye Aribasoye, has under the Freedom of Information Act 2011 written to the Ekiti State Government demanding for the release and inspection of certain documents relating to the expenses of the state.
Aribasoye, who is also the Youth President of the All Progressives Congress in the South West, gave the government a seven-day ultimatum to produce the documents.
The letter, titled: “APPLICATION FOR INSPECTION OF DOCUMENTS PURSUANT TO SECTIONS 1, 3, 4 AND RELEVANT SECTIONS OF FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2011,” reads in full: “Above subject matter refers. Pursuant to sections 1, 3, 4 and relevant sections of the Freedom of Information Act which has been domesticated by Ekiti State, I hereby demand for the release of the uderlisted documents for inspection in the interest of the public within seven days (7) of the receipt of this application:
•Details of Ekiti wage bill for the following months: September, 2014; January, 2015; July, 2015; December, 2015; January, 2016 and March, 2016
•Up to date Ekiti Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) between October 2014 and March, 2016
•Details of how Ekiti IGR has so far been expended
•The total amount released as bail-out fund of the Federal government, a record showing details of its beneficiaries and detailed analysis of how it was expended
•Details of Federal Government refund on road projects between October, 2014 and March, 2016
•Details on how the ecological fund so far released by the Federal Government between December, 2014 and March, 2016 was expended.
•Details of grants from various banks under Corporate Social Responsibilities and how same was expended.
•Details of the total amount spent on ‘Stomach Infrastructure Scheme’ starting from October, 2014 through April 21, 2016 and the list of beneficiaries.”
Aribasoye added that his request is premised on the fact that government businesses are expected to be transacted in such manner that will give room for accountability and transparency and urge the state government to respond in the interest of the general public.
