Athletes coming to Lagos State for the forthcoming National Sports festival have been assured of their safety by the police.
The Commissioner, Lagos State Police Command, Umar Manko, said this during a press briefing at the state command in Ikeja on Friday.
Manko stated that the sport festival and the ember months will be safe as the command had taken proactive steps to check criminal activities in the state.
He said: “Last week, we arrested 130 miscreants known as the one million boys and I am happy to announce to you that officers attached to the Apapa Division carried out a raid in criminal hideouts and arrested another 160 miscreants.
“We are profiling them and more of such raid will be sustained in the state, especially during the ember months and the festivities.
“We assure sportsmen and women that Lagos State is safe and the festivities will be peaceful.
“There is no cause for worry as we have put measures in place to protect lives and property.
