The Delta State chapter of the Labour Party on Wednesday said the barren 16 years of the Peoples Democratic Party will end on April 11.
The party maintained that its governorship flag-bearer, Chief Great Ogboru, will not only defeat Senator Ifeanyi Okowa of the PDP and Olorogun O’tega Emerhor of the All Progressive Congress, he will ensure genuine dividends of democracy.
The party said rather than paying lip service to people-oriented projects as currently obtainable in the state, Ogboru’s excellent blueprint for the development of the state will impact positively on the people.
The state Chairman of the party, Chief Tony Ezeagu, gave the assurance at Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of state, when he visited the various party faithful in the locality.
While calling on the people not to lose sight of the fact that Ogboru, who hails from Delta Central axis of the state, is also from Delta North, Ezeagu wondered what new thing the ruling party has to offer the state since their candidates have been in government since 1999.
Pointing to what he tagged “perennial water problem”, which has bedeviled the headquarters of the council area for decades, “whereas the Catholic Bishop of Issele-Uku was able to provide bore-hole water for the people,” he urged the people to vote out PDP’s “act of wickedness”.
He said: “With all the resources at the disposal of PDP successive administration in the state since 1999, to deprive the people of Issele-Uku of portable water is an act of wickedness.”
He thanked the people for their support for a new order in the state.
The Director-General of the Ogboru Campaign in Delta Central, Chief Andrew Agbega, called on the people to use their voting power to push out the PDP.
According to Agbega, PDP has subjected the people to untold hardship.
He urged them to get their Permanent Voter Cards, assuring them that with the introduction of the Card Reader Machine by the Independent National Electoral Commission, their votes would court.
He said this is also an indication that the rigging spree of PDP has ended.
He assured the newly admitted decampees from other parties, numbering 100, to mobilize support for Ogboru’s victory.
