Kwara LG chairmen, councillors defect from PDP to APC

All the 16 local government chairmen in Kwara State have formally dumped the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress.
The chairmen, under the auspices of the Kwara State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, made their position known at the Association’s Secretariat in Ilorin, the state capital.
Addressing newsmen on behalf of the Chairmen, the Protem Chairman, Barrister Abdullateef Okandeji, said the decision was borne out of the refusal and failure of the national leaders of the PDP to address the observations and complaints of its founding members.
Okandeji, who is the Chairman, Ilorin East Local Government Area, explained that lawlessness, impunity and injustice, which had become norms of the party, led to the factionalisation and eventual defection to the APC.
The ALGON Protem Chairman stressed that the APC remains a viable alternative platform for improved welfare of the citizenry.
He called on supporters and well wishers of local government chairmen to join hands with Senator Bukola Saraki in moving the state and the country forward.
Okandeji promised that ALGON would work with the All Progressives Congress in the overall interest of the people in advancing the nation’s democracy.
