The Kwara State Deputy Governor and Chairman, Technical Committee on Coronavirus, Kayode Alabi, on Friday intercepted loaded passenger buses operating along Otte-Ogbomosho Road in violation of government’s lockdown
Alabi, who was at Ilorin-Ogbomosho Road to monitor compliance with the government lockdown, expressed displeasure that some security officials at the roadblock were aiding road users to violate the government’s restriction.
The Deputy Governor had apprehended some security officials for allowing as many as 20 vehicles with hundreds of passengers to evade the lockdown and cross the state border.
While commending other security agencies for partnering with the state government to combat the disease, Alabi, however, chastised the apprehended officials for aiding rather than preventing the spread of Coronavirus.
He affirmed that the Technical Committee would sanction the culprits appropriately.
