Super Eagles’ manager, Stephen Keshi, has disclosed that two players from the pool of the home based Eagles at African Nations Championship will be selected for Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Keshi stated this shortly after the home Eagles finished third at the CHAN 2014 tournament in South Africa on Saturday.
According to him: “I am so happy with these boys and my aim is to see them grow.
“I wanted to pick two of them for the World Cup and I have seen them already.
“So let’s keep our fingers crossed as we look forward to World Cup preparations.”
Speaking on the Super Eagles victory over their Zimbabwean counterparts, Keshi said: “Playing with a numerical advantage doesn’t mean that you must score.
“It takes time and intelligence to win such games.”
His Zimbabwean counterpart, Ian Gorowa, blamed his team’s failure to win the game on poor finishing by the attackers.
Gorowa said: “We will plan ahead for the 2015 AFCON qualifiers now.
“We tried our best against Nigeria but our achilles heel was the inability to score goals.
“We played against a tough side but lessons have been learnt today.
“We will move ahead from here.
“I am equally happy that some of my players would be moving to the South African league.
“This will give them the needed exposure ahead of the AFCON qualifiers.”
