Fun seekers turned out en masse on Easter Sunday for the Kennis Music Easter Fiesta at the Suntan Beach in Badagry, Lagos State.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that even the rains could not stop the party as the fun lovers got entertained with live performances from notable artists.
Kenny Ogungbe, the Chief Facilitator of the show, told the News Agency of Nigeria that it was brought to Badagry to attract the interest of inhabitants to music and performance.
Ogungbe said: “We have been going to various states in previous years for this show but we decided to bring it to Badagry because we care about people in the rural areas.
“Music is universal and therefore performance such as this will catch the fancy of upcoming artistes in the locality.
“We brought the show here because it is good for us to see beyond main Lagos neighourhoods.
“It is the best platform to spot upcoming talents in Badagry and we shall not hesitate to nurture them as we have always done.
“In fact, we have spotted about three talents here and we are going to take them in and nurture them.”
Ogungbe, however, advised upcoming artistes to be focused.
He stressed that the fiesta had helped to boost business activities in the area due to the influx of fun seekers from across the country.
Malam Ahmed Abdul, who sells suya in the area, said he made up to N47,000 in a short period of the fiesta, adding: “I am still expecting to make more before the close of day.
“This is the perfect Easter for me because I have not made so much money like this in a long time.”
Tinuke Arele, who sells beverages, said: “Business has been great since morning and I’m so glad about this because I have not made so much money in a long while.”
On her part, Temitayo Kazeem, a fun seeker, said she took advantage of the holiday to attend the fiesta.
Kazeem said: “I’m so glad that a show like this has come to Badagry and I hope it would continue.
“We need shows like this to attract people to this wonderful ancient city and it would give us the recognition we deserve.”
