Members of the Jigawa State House of Assembly on Tuesday wept profusely during a valedictory session for the Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Inuwa Udi, who died last Thursday, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
NAN recalled that Udi died in a ghastly auto-crash in Zugachi village along the Kano-Hadejia Road in Kano State.
The Speaker of the House, Alhaji Ahmed Adamu, who also shed tears on the floor of the House, described the late deputy speaker as a gentle man and a hardworking lawmaker.
Adamu said that the deceased was a loyal and responsible person who was always willing to accept responsibilities.
The Majority Leader, Alhaji Adamu Jafaru, also described Udi as a patient and calm person.
Jafaru said that the late deputy speaker was a listening leader, who was always ready to take advice from other members of the House.
Ibrahim Suleiman, the Chief Whip, prayed to God to grant his soul eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear his demise.
NAN reports that the session was emotional as all members who spoke to give accounts of their relationships with the deceased shed tears uncontrollably.
