The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the governorship election in Imo State inconclusive.
Owing to this, elections will be held in local government areas where results were cancelled over alleged irregularities
The Returning Officer for the state, Prof. Ibidapo Obe, declared the election inconclusive.
Obe said he declared the election inconclusive because the number of cancelled votes (144,715) was higher than the margin of win (79,529) by the incumbent and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
While Okorocha polled 385,671, his Peoples Democratic Party rival, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, polled 306,142 votes.
