Despite the ongoing trial of the embattled President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, self-acclaimed anti-corruption activist, Senator Dino Melaye, has vowed die with the former governor of Kwara State.
Saraki is currently facing trial at the Code of Coduct Tribunal over alleged false assets declaration.
Senator Melaye made the vow to swim and sink with Saraki on his Facebook page on Friday.
He said nobody can remove the embattled Senate president until the expiration of his tenure in 2019.
Melaye said: “My brother and friend Sen. Bukola Saraki, if you have 1 trillion supporters, I’m one. If you have one billion, I’m one. If you have one million, I’m one. If you have one thousand, I’m one. If you have ten, I’m one. If you have only one supporter, I’m one. And if you have no single supporter, it means I’m dead. No shaking. Four years too sure.”
Melaye, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, is the coordinator of “Like Mind Senators”, a group which worked for the emergence of Saraki as Senate president.
Before Melaye was elected as the Senator for Kogi West Senatorial District, he was the Executive Secretary of the Anti-Corruption Network, which staged a protest against the purchase of bullet proof cars by former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah.
Oduah is also a senator now.
