Nigeria’s duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Brown Ideye sat out for 90 minutes as Manchester City demolished West Bromwich Albion 3-0 in a Premier League tie at the Hawthorns on Monday.
While Iheanacho and Ideye were left out by their various clubs, Anichebe was called to action in the 74th minute as he placed West Bromwich Albion’s new signing, Rickie Lambert.
It was however Yaya Toure’s night as the Ivorian skipper netted a brace in the first half. The reigning African Footballer of the Year right footed shot from outside the box to the bottom left corner to shoot the Citizens ahead in the early minutes of the tie.
Toure again came calling with another right footed shot from outside the box to the top right corner in the 24th minute of the tie.
On resumption for the second half, City skipper, Vincent Kompany, took the game away from the Baggies’ reach with an attempt from the left side of the six yard box to the top right corner.
Man City now leads the English Premier League table with three points, while West Bromwich Albion sits bottom of the log.
