The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, appears to have redeployed Nigeria’s super cop, Abba Kyari, the head of the IGP Intelligence Response Team, out of the Unit if a signal Thursday is anything to go by.
According to the police signal, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, identified as Ben Okolo, will now head the Unit.
The new posting of Kyari was yet unknown as at press time.
As at press time on Thursday, The Eagle Online gathered that Kyari, who along with others had brought glory to the battered image of the police, was having a meeting with Adamu.
Other units have also been assigned to other senior police officers.
The reason for the changes are yet unknown.
However, a police source claimed that a counter signal had already been released, but not yet at the disposal of The Eagle Online.
Adeleye Oyebade, a Commissioner of Police, is to take over the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad; Deputy Commissioner of Police Echeng Echeng will manage the Special Tactical Squad; while DCP Lanre Bankole has been instructed to head X-Squad.
Dan Okoro, a Commissioner of Police, is to take over all the units in the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Alagbon, Lagos.
Okoro’s new duty is confusing, since he is said to have retired this January.
The signal stated: “The under listed officers and teams to take over all quasi-investigation units to Nigeria Police, Abuja, FCID as follows, CP Adeyele Oyebade, FSARS, CP Celestine Okoye is anchoring for DCP Ben Okolo, IRT, and DCP Echeng Echeng, STS, DCP Lanre Bankole, X-squad, DCP, Umar Mamman Sanda, DC Admin FCID Abuja will supervise, ACP Baba Azare, Election Monitoring Unit, while CP.
