The Southwark Crown Court 9 in the United Kingdom has fixed 2:30pm for the sentencing of a former Delta State Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori.
This was after it listened to pleas from Ibori’s lawyer, who called former Nigerian football international, John Fashanu, to speak on the achievements of the former governor in the area of sports.
Fashanu said Ibori built nine stadia and three Olympic-sized stadia in Delta State during his tenure.
He said the one in Ibori’s hometown, Oghara, had served its purpose of talent discovery very well.
He also told the court that Ibori built the first shooting range in Nigeria.
The lawyer told the judge to be lenient with his client.
