Former Super Eagles’ skipper, Kanu Nwankwo, has denied media reports claiming the former Arsenal point man and other top stars were stranded in Turkey due to the failed coup d’etat.
Kanu, who spoke with The Eagle Online from London on Sunday, said there was no iota of truth in the report.
Kanu said he was back in London.
He told The Eagle Online: “Though, the Samuel Eto’o’s charity match was called off but we were not held back a single minute in Turkey.
“I don’t know where they got their report.
“All the players left today (Sunday) to their various destinations.
“Everybody was okay and we thank God.”
Media reports (not The EagleOnline) earlier claimed Kanu, Austin Okocha and a host of other top players that flew in to Antalya, Turkey for the Samuel Eto’o charity football match were stranded.
