How I, Dogara, eight others collected N10b illegal allowances – Jibrin

Former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, on Saturday made another shocking revelation of how 10 Principal Officers of the House collected a whopping N10 billion illegal allowances.
Jibrin said what accrued to him was N650 million.
He said the collection of the allowances started in 2011.
He, however, expressed regrets collecting the allowances.
Jibrin, who disclosed this in series of tweets on his Tweeter handle: @AbdulAbmJ, described the allowances as “systematic corruption that should be dealt with in phases since you cannot afford the systemic shock of a one-off attack.
“The way the allowances of members are currently structured cannot pass the integrity test.”
Jibrin said he regretted being part of the team that has defrauded tax payers to the tune of over N10 billion.
Jibrin also said he would be ready to state how he spent his N650 million loot, adding: “I have never been comfortable with the money! Thank God the allowance has reached its waterloo! The country and House will be better off!
“I have records and account of how I spent every penny that I have taken. In fact, it has been published in a 150-page book.”

“From computation of various sub heads of allowances of the House, the 10 Principal Officers received various amounts as follows:
“Speaker Yakubu Dogara has been in the House from 2007 to date. He has received about 1.5billion naira‎
“Deputy Speaker Yusuf Lasun has been in the house from 2011 to date. He has received about 800million naira
“House Leader Femi Gbajabiamila has been in the House from 2003 to date. He has received about 1.2billion naira
“Deputy House Leader Buba has been in the House from 2007 to date. He received about 1.2billion naira.
“Whip Alhassan Doguwa has been in the House from 2003 to date. He has received about 1.2 billion naira
“Deputy Whip Pally Iriase has been in the house from 2011 to date. He has received 700 million naira
“Minority Leader Leo Ogor has been in the House from 2007 to date. He has received 1.2 billion naira
“Deputy Minority Leader Barde has been in the House from 2011 to date. He has received 700 million “And finally, Deputy Minority Whip Binta has been in the House from 2011 to date. She has received 700 million naira.
“So in between these 10 Principal Officers, the country has pumped about 10 billion naira – and still counting.
“If any of them disputes my figure, they should not make drama out of it, just simply tell the country how much he or she has collected.
“If my colleagues chose to support the Speaker, I wish then safe journey. But on this struggle, I shall continue even if I am alone!
“I urge Nigerians to remain vigilant as these corrupt elements can go to any length to change the narrative and evade justice. God bless.”
