It came as a surprise to many when news about fast-rising rapper, Eva Alordiah’s contract termination with former label, Trybes Records, owned by Eldee Tha Don. The relationship between Eva and Trybes Records didn’t last more than five years.
The reason for the surprise may not be unconnected with the fact that Eldee recently bought an expensive car to always convey his artistes to and fro places they go. So, it was a welcome idea to industry watchers the packaging Eldee was planning for his artistes.
Last week, a statement from the music label said: “Trybes Records and Eva Alordiah have agreed to terminate her recording contract effective immediately. Trybes Records’ vision is to discover and nurture the talents of our artists while operating with purpose, valuing relationships with our partners within the industry, and being persistent in creating and releasing quality music. Unfortunately, over the past 5 months Eva’s vision has not aligned with ours and thus, both parties have agreed to separate.
“We wish Eva the best in her future endeavors and plan on continuing towards our goal of creating quality music for Nigeria and beyond.”
With that statement, it became clear that both parties ended their business relationship abruptly.
But information scooped by The Eagle Online shows that Eva and Trybes Records may have parted ways due to constant disagreement between them soon after Eva was signed. There were reports that Eva allegedly became too demanding after she signed with the label.
These alleged demands were said to be part of what brought about the disagreements. So, it became imperative that the two parties go their separate ways, especially when Eva had not released any work while signed with the music label that has Sheyman and others.
As at press time, phone numbers of Eldee and Eva were switched off. They could not be contacted to comment on the development. We would keep you posted.
