The Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Hon. Godfrey Gaiya has told the Nigeria Football Federation to pay the $10,000 winning bonus to the Super Eagles if they beat the Flames of Malawi in the make or mar 2014 World Cup qualifier holding in Calabar, Cross River State this Saturday.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, Gaiya advised the NFF leadership to jettison the idea of implementing the Segun Adeniyi committee report for now, arguing that the idea will be counter-productive if it is not well managed.
The Segun Adeniyi committee had recommended that it is the prerogative of the Nigeria Football Federation to decide the bonus that would be paid to the players.
But Gaiya noted that since the report has not been treated by the minister, the NFF must maintain status quo.
He said: “The boys need all the concentration now.
“They don’t need anything that would distract them now.
“The NFF should return to status quo and pay them the $10,000 for now, pending when the full report would be released.”
