The Police in Bauchi State said an attack on a commercial vehicle by some hoodlums in Bogoro Local Government Area of the state has left one person dead and five others injured.
DSP Haruna Mohammed, the Bauchi State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Bauchi that the hoodlums attacked the passengers around 9.45pm on Wednesday.
Mohammed said occupants of a Peugeot vehicle, with registration number XA 06 BGR, were attacked along Kurum Dodo-Gobiya Road, while returning from Bogoro Market.
According to him, one man identified as Bogoro Mwari, was hacked to death by the attackers, while the driver of the vehicle, one Isaiah Andrawus, and four others were injured.
He said: “On the 14/05/2014 at about 19.45hrs, hoodlums attacked a Peugeot 806 vehicle with registration number XA 06 BGR.
“The vehicle was returning from Bogoro market, and was attacked along Kurum Dodo – Gobiya area, as a result of which one person was killed while five were injured.”
Mohammed said that the injured had been rushed to the Jos University Teaching Hospital for treatment.
He said that three expanded ammunition of 7.62mm were recovered at the scene, adding that investigation had already commenced in an effort to apprehend the suspects.
