Gozem, the first ride-hailing platform in Togo, announced a strategic partnership with Total
Togo, the Togolese affiliate of Total Group, the world’s fourth largest publicly-traded Oil and Gas company.
Together Gozem and Total Togo seek to boost the urban transport sector in Togo by offering local motorcycle taxi drivers (zemidjans) and standard taxi drivers a better
suite of products, services and understanding about their vehicles in order to improve their vehicle maintenance and driving habits, thus leading to better vehicle performance,
increased efficiency and positive environmental impact.
Gozem, who launched two months ago in Lomé, is already receiving more than 1,000 trip requests per day from its customers and is training additional drivers every week to join
its platform.
“Through this partnership, Total and Gozem aim to facilitate drivers’ access to
Total’s products and services in Lomé and raise drivers’ awareness about the importance of adopting simple but effective habits, thereby improving the performance of their vehicles while protecting the environment.
Gozem will be adding a dedicated course to its driver training programme: this course will be focused on the best practices all drivers need to adopt to achieve optimal vehicle
performance & efficiency while being eco-responsible. Additionally, throughout the month of January, Gozem’s ambassadors will be present at several Total stations in Lomé.
The ambassadors will be interacting with drivers at their convenience; introducing them to best practices on the spot; and inviting them to join a more complete and free training session at Gozem’s headquarters.
“Total will be offering prizes to drivers that adhere to, and adopt the communicated best practices.
Collectively, these activities are designed to drive a measurable impact on Lomé’s
transportation industry, leading to cost & efficiency savings for drivers, more robust vehicles for passengers, and a greener environment for all Togolese people.
This partnership reinforces Gozem’s goal of working alongside the city’s drivers to offer
world-class transport services to local African consumers, with a primary focus on safety,
security and efficiency.
“Gozem is proud to be able to support and offer professional transport providers the knowledge to improve their working conditions.
This innovative partnership with Total is fully in line with the quality support approach that
Gozem offers its partner drivers, says Farouk Tchabana, Head of Gozem Operations.
For Frédéric Rivière, General Manager of Total Togo, adding: “This partnership with Gozem represents a tremendous opportunity for Total to strengthen our relationship with the drivers in Lomé. Together we aim to create a synergy that will allow us to collaborate
and support drivers even more by offering them quality products every time, preserving their engines and incomes.”
