Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State on Wednesday presented a budget of N109 billion to the state House of Assembly for 2016.
At the presentation, Yari said the 2016 appropriation was 20.89 per cent higher than that of 2015, which stood at a little over N90.4 billion.
He added that a little over N69.8 billion was proposed as recurrent and over N39.8 billion as capital revenues, as well as over N43.8 billion or 40 per cent of the proposal as recurrent expenditure and over N65.5 billion or 59.9 per cent for capital expenditure.
The governor further gave a sectoral allocation of the bill, with the highest allocation of N33.1 billion or 44 per cent allocated to the economic sector, followed by the social sector with N13.2 billion, environment sector with N12.1 billion, while administration sector had N6.7 billion.
Receiving the proposal, the Speaker of the Assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Rikiji, promised that the proposal would receive accelerated hearing and passage.
Rikiji promised that the legislators would ensure prudent management of the state resources.
