Digital Transformation Leader, Globacom, has re-affirmed its support for the economic growth and development of Africa as it throws its weight behind the annual Africa CEO Forum holding in Rwanda next month.
The operator in a statement from its head office in Lagos on Sunday said its support for the annual gathering of chief executives of Africa’s leading businesses this year is part of its commitment to the development of Africa’s business landscape. The company is working with Jeune Afrique Media Group and Rainbow Unlimited on the 2019 Africa CEO Forum.
Globacom said its Executive Vice Chairman, Mrs. Bella Disu, met with the Forum organisers, who are also the publishers of Jeune Afrique and Africa Report to deliberate on how this year’s edition of the initiative will yield maximum benefits to participants.
The operator is a Diamond partner of the event that will help to identify ways to improve intra-African trade and investments, among many other objectives.
Scheduled to hold in Kigali, Rwanda, from March 25 to 26, the summit has the theme ‘Open Africa: from continental treaties to business realities”. It is expected to feature over 40 panels, private-public workshops, and case studies.
Disu said Africa is rich in business diversity, which if properly harnessed could yield bountiful economic benefits for both the continent and its inhabitants.
The annual platform offers executives and international investors in Africa an opportunity to discuss modalities for building sustainable organisations and mobilising African businesses to champion private sector-led growth.
Globacom’s EVC will not only participate in this year’s forum, but will also chair the Women in Business Initiative. She said in today’s global world and with tech-enabled access to knowledge and opportunities, there has never been a better time for women to look around and see other women who influence them.
Delving into its agenda for this year, the organisers, said the forum will “unite its 2000 participants around a transformation agenda… What priorities must be identified to boost the level of intra-African trade and investment? What must a united Africa do to better protect its interests and industries? How can we mobilise the private sector around cross-border infrastructure and logistical projects”?
The 2018 edition of Africa CEO Forum had 70 countries represented by heads of governments, 1500 participants, and 700 CEOs. Guests included former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; President Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire; President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana; Wale Tinubu, Group Chief Executive Officer of Oando PLC; Folorunsho Alakija, Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil; and Nadia Fettah, Managing Director of Saham Finances.
