Former President of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Dr. Wale Okediran, has described late Abubakar Gimba Nasarawa as a team player, who is humble, hardworking, dedicated and selfless and has left better legacies for humanity.
Okediran made the disclosure when he paid a condolence visit to the family on Monday in Minna, the Niger State capital.
He endowed a price in his honour.
It is to be known as the “Abubakar Gimba price for short story books”.
He called on the Niger State Government and Federal Government to immortalize him.
Okediran said the death of icon was a personal blow because he served Gimba as General Secretary when he was ANA president, adding that his name will remain indelible on the earth.
The former president of ANA challenged members to as a matter of urgency organize events to celebrate him, noting that they were very good friends and share norms with late Ken Saro-Wiwa.
He explained that the late Gimba during his tenure made every effort to make ANA a legal body through registration of the association as well able to got C of O for the landed properties of the association at Mpape in Abuja.
Representing by the family, Alhaji Sani Mahmud in his remark appreciated those who have visited since the death of their father, who died at the age of 63 after been diagonized of liver-related illness since 2010.
Mahmud noted that some of his unpublished works he left behind will soon be made public.
Prof. Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, who also visited, described the late writer as a unique and very wonderful person to work with.
Yahaya said Gimba exhibited very good character during his life time and deserved to be celebrated for living a perfect life.
