A former Theatre Commander of Operation Lafita Dole, General Yushau Abubakar, is dead.
Operation Lafita Dole is the military squad battling Boko Haram in the North East.
Abubakar died in a road accident along the Maiduguri-Damaturu Expressway on Tuesday.
Abubakar, who was until his death the Chief of Training and Operations of the Nigerian Army, reportedly died on the spot in the accident.
However, the Acting General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Brigadier General MSA Aliyu, who was in the same car with him, survived the crash.
Aliyu was said to have sustained some injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Usman Kukasheka, has confirmed this development.
