Major General Abdulsalami Ibrahim on Friday assumed office as the new Commander of the Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven.
He replaces Major General Ibrahim Ali, deployed as Theatre Commander, North East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that OPSH is a special military task force saddled with the responsibility of maintaining peace in Plateau State and parts of Kaduna and Bauchi States.
The new Commander pledged to sustain and build on the successes recorded by his predecessor.
Ibrahim also promised to use both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches in tackling insecurity in the OPSH areas of operation.
Ibrahim called on officers and men of the special military task force to be professional and committed to the actualisation of the mandate of ensuring peace in their area of responsibility.
He called on residents to support and cooperate with the military and other security agencies towards ensuring a peaceful environment for all.
Earlier, Ali thanked officers and men of the operation for the support accorded him and urged them to extend same to his successor.
