The bases attacked between February 28 and the early hours of March 1 include the Forward Operating Bases in Mayanti, Gajigana, and Gajiram.
The attacks occurred late Saturday when insurgents attempted to overrun military positions in the two locations, according to a statement issued Monday by the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lt. Col. Sani Uba.
General Abubakar described the visit as a demonstration of growing international interest in Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts.

A credible source at Headquarters of the Nigerian Army disclosed this development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Abuja.
He said on August 22, troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade repelled a night attack on their Forward Operating Base at Kumshe in Borno State.
The troops also neutralised scores of terrorists, apprehended several others and rescued victims in various operations across theatres of operation.
