Fuel scarcity: Passage of PIB lasting solution – IPMAN

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria on Thursday said the lasting solution to the recurring fuel scarcity in the country is the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill into law.
Addressing newsmen, the National President of IPMAN, Chinedu Okoronkwo, who made this known, appealed to the National Assembly for the speedy passage of the bill.
According to Okoronkwo: “If the PIB is properly resolved, many people will be bringing money into the system.
“The passage of the bill will open up the industry for more investment.
“We appeal to the National Assembly to quickly pass the bill.”
The President said about 52 vessels are already on their way to the country, therefore there is no cause for alarm about fuel insufficiency, adding that the leadership crisis in the association has also contributed to fuel scarcity in the country.
Okoronkwo added that some marketers that got the supply of the fuel are not members of the IPMAN.
He said: “The leadership crisis rocking the IPMAN has a negative impact on the smooth distribution of petroleum product to the consumers.”
On the Court of Appeal judgment on the IPMAN leadership crisis, Okoronwko said the ruling has affirmed his leadership and slammed the other faction with a fine of N100,000.
