Four persons have been confirmed to have sustained injury in an explosion on a ship at the TinCan Island Port at Apapa, Lagos State.
Ibrahim Farinloye, an official of the National Emergency Management Agency, said: “There was a ship that was trying to discharge into an oil tank owned by (Nigerian firm) MRS and there was a fire, but I don’t yet have any details as to what led to the fire.
“We are trying to isolate the ship so that we can quench the fire,”
Farinloye added that four people were wounded from the explosion on the ship.
The Tin Can Port includes jetties where fuel importers offload petroleum products.
Charles Osagie who works at the import and export office in the vicinity, said: “I felt the explosion from where we were.”
