The Tulsi Chanrai Foundation has offered free treatments to no fewer than 2,677 patients suffering from various eye diseases in Kebbi State in 2021.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Shravan Kumar- Kasam, stated this while signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the officials of Kebbi State Government in Birnin Kebbi Tuesday.
He said, “The foundation from 2003 to 2022, treated over 41,057 patients suffering from different eye diseases.
“In 2021 alone, we treated over 2,677 patients inflicted with different eye diseases in Kebbi.”
Kumar-Kasam added that the Foundation through the programme had been offering free eye treatments to people from Kebbi and other states from across the country.
“The signing of the MoU will serve as permission for the foundation to continue rendering its free medical eye treatment to people from the state and beyond,” he said.
In his remarks, the State’s Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Jafar Muhammad-Zuru, said that the state entered into partnership with Tulsi Chanrai Foundation, with a view to ensuring the effective health of the residents.
“The free medical eye treatment, including eye surgeries and other primary health care activities, are aimed at helping the people, particularly, those from rural areas who are suffering from different eye problems.
“The partnership is to alleviate the sufferings of the people of the state, those from the neighboring states and people from Benin and Niger Republics,” he said.
