The governors of Niger, Kogi, Kaduna, Katsina and Nasarawa States will join other stakeholders to discuss peace at the 10th Ramadan lecture of Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria in Abuja.
A statement by the Chairman of MMPN, Abuja chapter, Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, stated the lecture would hold at the conference hall of the National Mosque, Abuja on June 19 from 10am.
Other stakeholders who will discuss the theme: “Peace as a Catalyst for Development, the Media Challenge,” are Alhaji Muhammad Bello, the Minister of the FCT, who is also the chief host; and Alhaji Lai Muhammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, as special guest of honour.
The guest speakers are Prof. Ishaq Akintola, the Director, Muslim Rights Concern; Hajia Aisha Umar-Yusuf, Editor, Muslim worldview; and Cemal Yegit of Ufuk Foundation, Turkey.
Alhaji Awwal Ibrahim, the Emir of Suleja, is the chairman of the occasion, while Prof Is-haq Oloyede, the Secretary-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, will deliver a keynote address.
Other guests expected were Rep. Sulaiman Lasun, the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives; other lawmakers; Hon. Kafayat Dabiri-Erewa, SSA Foreign Affairs and Diaspora; and Barrister Bayo Shittu, Minister of Communications.
All heads of government media as well as some selected private establishments and the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Alhaji Waheed Odusile, are equally expected at the one-day lecture.
Balogun said the topic was carefully selected to proffer solutions to the challenges facing the country in having everlasting peace geared towards development.
