The Minister of National Planning, Dr. Abubakar Suleiman, on Monday said the commission was taking necessary measures to ensure that the gains of Millennium Development Goals were sustained beyond 2015.
Suleiman told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja that the commission would consider human capacity index and other factors toward sustaining successes of MDGs and breaking new grounds.
He said: “We are working toward post-MDGs.
“This means that after MDG in 2015, what next?
“And we are considering so many things.
“One of it is the human capital index report and others.
“We are trying to look at after MDG, what happens?
“One of the things we are looking into is to really come out with how many Nigerians are under-employed and over-employed.”
According to Suleiman, the Department of Macro Economy in the commission has been mandated to come out with action plan action on the Post-MDGs in the long or medium term.
He expressed optimism that tracking the 2015 MDGs would help the nation to plan beyond 2015.
Suleiman said the commission in collaboration with National Bureau of Statistics and Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research was also working on a report on the formal sector.
He said he was optimistic that the human capacity index and formal sector reports would be made public in 2015
