The wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Feyisetan Fayose, has offset the medical bills of some patients who could not afford to pay their bills at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.
The beneficiaries included Boko Haram victims from the northern part of the country, accident victims with varying degrees of injury, new born babies with complications and their mothers among others.
The gesture was part of activities marking Fayose’s 51st birthday.
Fayose had also on January 8 carried out similar gesture when she donated various gift items to a number of Government Special Schools/Institutions in Ikere, Ado, Ido, Ikoro and Iyin Ekiti to mark her birthday.
Speaking while presenting the cash donation to the patients at the hospital complex in Ado-Ekiti, the governor’s wife said the gesture was aimed at bringing succour to the people, especially the children.
She reiterated her earlier statement that she had no particular pet project but to give total support to her husband’s policies and programmes towards making life more meaningful to the people of the state.
She said: “I have said it before and I am still saying it that l have no pet project.
“My project is my husband’s programmes and policies, which are aimed at making life more meaning to the generality of the people of the state.”
Fayose promised that the exercise would be a regular one.
She said she would not abandon those who are in need.
Speaking earlier, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Kolawole Ogundipe, had expressed appreciation to the first lady for her philanthropic gesture.
Ogundipe described the various conditions of the beneficiaries to include Boko Haram victims from the northern part of the country, accident victims with varying degrees of injury, new born babies with complication and their mothers.
Responding, one of the beneficiaries, Sade Adewuyi, expressed gratitude to Fayose and prayed for God’s guidance for the present administration.
