The Publisher of National Accord newspapers, Tom Chiahemen, has, again, been invited by officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission for questioning.
Chiahemen is to report at the ICPC office on Tuesday.
The publisher of the Abuja-based newspaper told The Eagle Online that the officials of the ICPC were in his office on Friday to invite him for the questioning.
He has been questioned for two days running earlier this week in connection with the advertisements he placed in Nigerian newspapers on behalf of the Ministry of Education between August 2006 and 2007 when a former Vice President of the World Bank, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, was in charge of the ministry as minister.
The ICPC officials who interrogated Chiahemen, according to the journalist, insisted that the advertisements must have been a conduit pipe used by Ezekwesili for siphoning government’s money during the regime of President Olusegun Obasanjo.
But Chiahemen, in a statement, said the move by the ICPC must be the Federal Government’s response to the criticism of the administration by Ezekwesili.
Ezekwesili had criticized the administrations of late President Umaru Yar’Adua and that of President Goodluck Jonathan for filtering away the country’s $67 billion left behind by the Obasanjo regime.
The Senior Special Adviser to Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, in a response to the allegation that did not address the issues raised by Ezekwesili, said the former minister should also answer to questions of mishandling funds during her tenure as Minister of Education.
