The European Union Election Observation Mission has called on the Nigeria Police Force to provide a secure environment for the success of the forthcoming general elections.
A statement issued by the Force spokesman, Emmanuel Ojukwu, on Thursday said Santiago Fisas, the EU Chief Observer, made the call when he visited the Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba.
The statement said Fisas commended the force for the high level of professionalism of its personnel.
It said the I-G promised the police would use the six weeks period of the shifting of the elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission to advance strategies and material requirement for the exercise.
Abba reassured his visitors that the force would provide the enabling environment for the success of the election.
