The training which was at the instance of the European Union Agents for Citizen-Driven Transformation (EU-ACT) at the American University of Nigeria (AUN) brainstormed on the issue to  poor compliance of CSOs to existing civil society regulations in Borno, Lagos, Enugu and other states.

“The states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)  and the European Union (EU)  as part of the CBSS have abandoned equal dialogue and principles on which this regional organization was created, and are consistently turning it into an instrument of anti-Russian policy,’’ the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

China (to some degree, Russia) has, through their Belt and Road Initiative, BRI, found a route to African hearts by helping to close infrastructure  gaps in many countries: roads, bridges, rail, power, water and even agricultural projects. China is today the biggest name in African infrastructure. This was not so a decade ago.  In 2013, Europe commandeered 37% of major African infrastructure projects, while China was in charge of 12%. By 2020, China had gone up to 31% and Europe left with only 12%.

Speaking while receiving the outgoing Ambassador/ Head of the European Union delegation to Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Ketil Karlsen, the president appreciated the fact that the EU remains the largest trading partner with Nigeria, while members of the union equally remain the largest investors.
