Riverlane FC of Enugu and EmmyDon FC of Owerri have won the 2018 Federation of Youth Soccer Club South-South and South–East competition in Enugu.
Riverlane defeated New Generation FC from Umuahia by a lone goal scored by Franklin Eneh in the 62nd minute.
Meanwhile, EmmyDon beat Riverlane FC U-16 2-1 to emerge champions, while Young Stars FC from Iva Valley, Enugu, thrashed Lord Mark FC Warri, Delta 3-1.
Young Stars FC retained the trophy they won in 2017 as New Generation who was the champions of U-16 and U-18 in 2017 relinquished the trophy to the Enugu and Owerri clubs.
All the champions were given cheques and a trophy as their reward for hardwork.
The football competition which started on Aug. 8 ended on Aug. 14 with two clubs from Enugu wining the U-13 and U-18 respectively with a team from Owerri taking the U-16 trophy.
Speaking after the final, the Co-coordinator of the FEYSOC competition, Anistar Izuike, expressed joy over the successful hosting of the competition.
He noted that that competition was an annual event and that Enugu had been the center for the competition since 2010 it started.
Izuikem congratulated the champions and urged them to start preparing for the 2019 edition.
NAN reports that New Generation won the seventh edition in 2017 in the U-16 and U-18, while Young Stars from Iva Valley, Enugu won the U-13.
