As part of celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, the Emir of llorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji lbrahim Sulu-Gambari, on Thursday announced the conferment of chieftaincy titles on nine eminent indigenes of llorin Emirate.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Emir, Mallam AbdulAzeez Arowona, confirmed the development.
The statement said the recipients have contributed immensely to the development of the emirate.
According to the statement, a one time National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, AlhajI Kawu Baraje, was bestowed with Tafida of llorin, while a philanthropist, Mallam Salihu Mustapha, becomes the Turaki of llorin.
A frontline lslamic preacher, Sheikh Farooq Onikijipa, was bestowed the title 4th Grand Mufti of llorin, while the former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Saka Onimago, became the new Shetima of llorin.
A former governorship candidate of CPC, Dr. Alimi AbdulRasaq, was named the new Mutawalle of llorin; an lslamic scholar, Sheikh Oba Solagberu, is now Malami Ubandoma of llorin; while a preacher, Sheikh Yakubu Aliagan, becomes the Seriki Malami of llorin.
