Four venues across Lagos State will play host to the project.
These are the Unity College, Ikorodu (February 27-29), Navy Ground, Ajegunle, Apapa (March 6-8), Skypower Ground in Ikeja GRA (March 12-14) as well as the Alade Sports Complex, Command, Ipaja (March 19-21).
At the end of a rigorous and appetizing registration and screening process, 24 boys will be taken to the prestigious residential Soccer Academy in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States of America.
Those selected will also have direct opportunity into the American Major League Soccer and major European Soccer Leagues.
Accordingly, Barrister Uche Obi and Mr. Leo Kareem, the Project Coordinators – Elite Soccer Academy USA, stated that “the project aims to encourage prudence and diligence as well as provide the youths with gainful rewards with which they can secure their future. Today, sports have become a big tool for economic empowerment.
“Many sportsmen made their names out of nothing but sporting ingenuity. Soccer is big business, and its players – the talented, the savvy – have benefitted immensely from satisfying the cravings of enthusiastic, idolizing fans. Some of them are now philanthropists and even employers of labour. Popular American scout, Linzy Davis will be on ground as well.”
Interestingly, some of the best soccer talents today are products of Academies.
These are Raul Gonzalez, David Beckham, Patrick Kluivert, Michael Owen, Solomon Kalou, Edgar Davis, et al.
