The Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State has urged the All Progressives Congress to stop crying over its electoral misfortunes in the state.
The PDP said the people of the state are not deceived by APC’s cock and bull stories of the military aiding its woeful loss in recent elections in the state.
The PDP has therefore advised the APC to stop cooking lies and fabrication.
It said the PDP is consolidating its hold on the state and that crying over spilled milk amounts to nothing.
The PDP, which spoke through the state Publicity Secretary, Jackson Adebayo, in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, said the claim by Taiwo Olatubosun of the APC that Governor Ayodele Fayose sent emissary to the military panel investigating the role of the military in Ekiti and Osun States governorship elections could not have come out of a sound mind.
The statement said: “It is like Olatubosun woke up from the wrong side of the bed or that those who mandated him to issue the statement were high on illicit drugs. Governor Ayodele Fayose and the PDP have nothing to fear about the military panel.
“Right-thinking Nigerians know that the stock in trade of the APC is that whatever they failed to get, no matter how good, they will make all efforts to rubbish it. For the records, the military maintained peace during the Edo, Anambra, Ekiti, Osun and many other governorship polls some of which were won by the APC.
“To the APC, nothing was wrong with the military’s presence in the states it won. Also, all the courts in the land, including the Supreme Court, held that Governor Ayodele Fayose duly won the June 21, 2014 governorship poll and defeated APC and its candidate, even in their bedrooms.
“The military panel can never sit as an appellate court on what the Supreme Court has decided on. As a party, we only drew the attention of the panel to some impostors, who went before it and claimed to be members of our great party. Such members were expelled in accordance with the constitution of our party and we never wanted them to mislead anybody.”
The PDP spokesman explained that only a foolish person or party could be looking at the panel as a respite, adding: “Though the APC is full of disillusioned people who are bereft of sound discerning when it comes to matters like this, the situation is clear enough that what the military was probing was the activities of its men in the elections but not the outcome.”
Adebayo maintained that neither the governor nor the party would descend to the fool’s paradise where the APC leaders enjoy cooking lies and satanic propaganda to now be chasing shadow when the good programmes of the government are being vigorously pursued.
“We don’t see Governor Fayose having any problem with the mandate bestowed on him by the people of Ekiti State and affirmed by the Supreme Court. We challenge the APC to come out with the names and other evidential proof of this their latest falsehood so that the people of the state could measure the mentality of the leaders of the opposition party in Ekiti State with their words and actions,” he noted.
