The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described the claim by the All Progressives Congress in the state that he planned to ambush the campaign convoy of the party’s presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday as a function of the fear of the repercussions of the reign of terror unleashed on the state and its people when the party was in power.
The Special Assistant to Fayose on Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, who reacted to the APC’s claim, said the party should rather prevail on its state Chairman, Jide Awe, and the three House of Assembly members that are standing trial for killing innocent Ekiti State sons and daughter to make themselves available for prosecution.
Olayinka said the Ekiti State APC was only preparing a ready excuse for its impending dismal outing on Saturday because “Ekiti people won’t welcome Buhari”.
The governor was quoted as saying: “It is shameful that a party like APC, whose members ruled the State like a jungle during the four years of Kayode Fayemi’s administration is now talking about Governor Fayose, planing to attack its members.
“It is even more funny that such a statement is coming from a character like Taiwo Olatubosun, who personally led thugs to attack former Ekiti State Governor, Segun Oni and other leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2006.”
Speaking further, the governor urged the APC to rather resolve the certificate and health issues of its “ailing” presidential candidate.
Fayose added: “someone who referred to INEC as ‘Independent Nigeria Electoral Commission’ instead of Independent National Electoral Commission and also called his running mate Osunbade instead of Osinbajo is not worthy to be a councillorship candidate of a serious political party.”
