The Peoples Democratic Party leaders in the South South zone on Monday expressed the firm confidence that President Goodluck Jonathan, from available facts, is sure of victory in the next month’s presidential election.
Jonathan is from the zone.
They South South PDP leaders, said after carefully evaluating the progress and preparedness of the zone for the February 14presidential election, concluded that “all was well”.
They urged all PDP stakeholders to work as a team so as to achieve a resounding success for the party at the election.
These were stated in a communique issued at the end of a meeting of the Presidential Campaign Committee of the zone held in Abuja and signed by the National Vice-Chairman (South-South), Chief Cairo Ojougboh.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, and all governors from the zone.
Others include all Ministers, all State Chairmen and all State Coordinators from the zone.
The South South zone, according to the communique, admitted its strategic duty to the overall success of President Jonathan’s reelection.
They emphasized the need for the support of the zone to move Nigeria to the next level and called for all hands to be on the deck.
The meeting directed members of the party to go to their respective states and ensure their voter cards were collected before the election and harped on the need to sensitize the populace on the voting process.
They also mandated party members from the zone to seek for the most credible method of reconciling aggrieved party members from the fall out of the recently concluded primaries.
The PDP leaders encouraged State Coordinators to work as a team and laiase with the Zonal Presidential Campaign Coordinator for envisaged results.
It was agreed that the zone would be fully involved in all the presidential rallies in the zone starting from the presidential rally onJanuary 28 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
It equally directed states in the zone to go ahead and prepare for the presidential rallies for a successful outing, noting that states are to base their campaign on the slogan: “Forward Nigeria.”
