The Akran of Badagry, De Aholu Menu-Toyi I, on Wednesday urged Muslims to use the Eid-el-Kabir period to pray for the unity and peace of the country.
The Akran told the News Agency of Nigeria in Badagry that Muslim faithful and Nigerians should use the occasion to preach about peace and shun hate campaign.
He said: “This period should be used in spreading the words of love, peace and unity of people in Nigeria and should try to stand together as one.
“We are stronger in unity; so we must ensure that nothing divides or separates us; so we must learn how to live together as one; no matter the tribe.
“Also, the period should be used to pray to God for the resolution of the economic challenges currently facing the country.
“We should never underestimate the powers of prayers as it is one of the few ways that help in resolving the various issues that the country is facing at the moment.’’
The Akran also charged Muslims to help the poor in the society.
He added: “All Nigerians should touch the lives of the needy during this season and it should not be done only in this period but it should become a habit.’’
