The Borno State Police Command said on Saturday it deployed over 2,000 policemen to man strategic areas to ensure a hitch-free Eid el-Fitr celebration in the state.
Damian Chukwu, the State’s Commissioner of Police, stated this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Maiduguri.
Chukwu said: “We have mobilised over 2,000 personnel to strategic places to ensure a hitch-free celebration across the state.
“A large chunk of these personnel are stationed in Maiduguri, while the rest are to work in various parts of the state.”
He said the police was also working in collaboration with sister security agencies to prevent any security breach during and after the celebration.
He said: “We have made additional arrangement in all praying grounds to ensure adequate security.
“This arrangement is made in both the state capital and other parts of state.”
The command had on Friday announced total ban on vehicular movement during the Eid prayer to prevent any security breach.
At least 17 persons were killed after five suspected female suicide bombers attacked Kofa Community, near Dalori last Monday.
On Tuesday, a convoy of vehicles was attacked along Maiduguri-Damboa road, leading to the death of a policeman and a truck driver.
