A former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, on Thursdaydeclared his dream for Delta State come 2015.
As part of his blueprints, the governorship hopeful said he would allow for constructive criticisms from the opposition to push his administration to duty.
Elder Orubebe, who maintained that “I have a dream to make Delta State get the status of global standard”, vowed to ensure equitable distribution of the state’s resources.
The aspirant announced to the mammoth crowd of supporters who besieged the popular Oshimili South Local Government Arcade in Asaba that the regional planning for the economic development of the state lies in his hand.
He said: “I am not an accidental politician.
“If I could plan with Presidents Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan for a successful Nigeria that we have today, if I could make sacrifice for Nigeria during militancy era and the restive youths laid down arms, what is in Delta State that I can’t plan for?
“Friends, I have a dream for Delta State.
“I am an agent of change.
“My dream to build low cost houses for the people, the workers, the less privileged, to marshal out action plans for the urban renewal of the state will be realized with the fear of God.
“I will encourage opposition so that we can do things aright.
“No voice will be silenced.
“All the ethnic nationalities will be brought together under my Delta Peoples’ Forum.
“That is the Delta of my dream.”
Reeling out his blueprints, Orubebe, flanked by the former Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, Chief Wellington Okirika; Wing Captain Biakpara; and his Campaign Director-General, Arch. Terry Noah, promised to revive all the ailing industries for employment opportunities.
Orubebe rose in politics as a councillor to chairman of Burutu Local Government Area of the state before late President Musa Yar’Adua appointed him as Minister of Special Duties,.
He later became the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs under President Jonathan.
