A seven-year old boy and several others were injured during Super Eagles African Cup of Nations match against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania on Saturday.
The victims got injured following a stampede that occurred outside the main bowl of the venue at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The Akwa Ibom State Government had thrown the gate opened, but poor crowd control and the exuberance of security operatives caused a stampede that almost claimed lives.
The security operatives were trying to chase the fans away from one of the gates leading to the main bowl but the activities became rowdy such that people were stumping on one another.
One of them was a seven-year-old boy who medical people were trying to revive before the victims were rushed to the hospital.
