The Lagos State Government has released more details on the cases of Coronavirus Disease in the state.
The information was released by the State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, in a Twitter update on Saturday.
Abayomi said all the confirmed cases in the state at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba are clinically stable, while giving the breakdown of those affected as 70 per cent male and 30 per cent female.
On the age bracket of the cases, Abayomi said most fall between 30 years and 39 years, describing them as the active and mobile age group.
On the nationality of the patients, he said 16 per cent are foreign nationals, while 84 per cent are Nigerians.
He equally confirmed the well known position that most of the infected persons came from outside the country with the disease.
He put the number of imported cases at 82 per cent, while 16 per cent of the cases were contacted from the imported cases.
He said it was in only 2 per cent of the of the cases that the origin could not be ascertained.
Abayomi also gave a breakdown of the top local governments in which those tagged as Passengers of Interest are located in the state.
He said the LGs are Etiosa, Ikeja, Alimosho, Kosofe and Oshodi.
He said the luck Lagos State had was that it had four weeks before any case was reported carried out Activation of Incident Command, adding that this put the state on top of the situation.
He added: “After 4 weeks, Lagos has faired better in managing the crisis compared with situation in Italy, Iran and Spain that got into exponential phase after 3-4 weeks.
“We are on the look out for local transmission as imported cases will drop significantly because of the closure of the airports.
“However, current trend indicates that community transmission is not on the rise yet.
“There are 3 testing sites in Lagos; namely IDH-Yaba, @LUTHofficial and @nimrnigeria.
“Response team @followlasg #COVID19 remain committed to aggressive containment measures against the spread of the virus.
“Every citizen should therefore continue to observe social distancing.”
