The Council of State meeting, the first in 2014, has commenced at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
It is being presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Conspicuously absent at the meeting are former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State and Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State.
Ajimobi was sited at the meeting of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress with its National Assembly lawmakers on Tuesday morning.
The meeting in the National Assembly has gone into a closed doors session.
Those attending the ongoing Council of State meeting include retired General Yakubu Gowon, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, retired General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, Chief Ernest Shonekan, Senator David Mark, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, Justice Mariam Aloma-Mukhtar and most of the state governors.
