Child traffickers, robbers, kidnappers arrested, killed in Delta

Nemesis has caught up with a child trafficking syndicate that had been terrorizing Delta State.
Men of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the state police command acted on a tip-off and arrested the kingpin, one Uwandu Kelechi.
The suspect later mentioned his accomplice, one Daniel Ikebuilo, a Medical Doctor in charge of Ikemefuna Hospital and Maternity, Ngbuike, Umunachi axis of Anambra State.
The acting Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Charles Muka, a Deputy Suprintendent of Police, who paraded them at the command headquarters in Asaba on Friday, said the chairman of Issele-Azagba Vigilante group, Kingsley Mordi, facilitated their arrest.
The PPRO hinted of how Kelechi was about selling his victim’s (Rosemary Chukwu) new born baby for N70,000 to traffickers before the plot leaked.
He said: “The said Rosemary Chukwu was brought to Issele-Azagba town by one Uwandu Kelechi who deceitfully promised to help her because of her condition. She later discovered that the said Kelechi is a member of a child trafficking syndicate. This prompted her to raise alarm that led to the arrest of the suspect.”
Meanwhile, the police team that gave the hoodlums a hot chase in Ogunu, Warri axis of the state, has killed one Andrew Isaac during a failed attempt to snatch N120,000 from an IBTC Bank customer.
The customer withdrew the said amount not knowing that the suspect and his gang had laid ambush around the vicinity in their two Camry cars.
“The alarm he raised,” said the Muka, attracted a nearby police patrol team.
In the ensuing gun duel, one of the armed robbers, later identified as Andrew Isaac, was gunned down while others escaped.
He said efforts have been intensified to track down the fleeing members.
Muka narrated to The Eagle Online how men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad arrested one Mike Agoreyo, a 22-year-old boy after robbing students of Niger Delta Oil and Gas Technical Skill Acquisition Centre, Usiefrun in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.
“SARS Patrol Team intercepted the armed robbers on a tricycle on the road near Mofor but two members of the gang escaped,” he told The Eagle Online.
He listed the items recovered from him to include five laptops and 13 assorted handsets.
