Chief Akin Omoboriowo, ex-Ondo deputy governor, is dead

The Second Republic Deputy Governor of old Ondo State, Chief Akin Omoboriowo, is dead.

According to information available on Facebook, Omoboriowo, who is now from Ekiti State after the splitting of the old Ondo State into two, died in Lagos on Tuesday.
He was said to have brearthed his last at about 6pm.
Lere Olayinka, an aide of former Governor Segun Oni of Ekiti State, said of Omoboriowo on his Facebook wall: “RIP Chief Akin Omoboriowo, one of d prides of Ekiti. He died in Lagos at about 6pm yesterday (Tuesday).
Omoboriowo, who has been off the political scene since he quit as deputy governor, would have been 80 this year.
In an interview with The Nation last month, Omoboriowo said he quit politics to be closer to God.
He told The Nation: “Politically, I am not active, not because I am sick or weak.
“But I am not indifferent to what happens around me.
“Politicians come around and ask for my advice.”
