Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Monday reopened on a negative note as the market indicators dropped by 1.82 per cent due to sell pressure.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the All-Share Index declined by 628.8 points or 1.82 per cent to close at 33,914.25 as against 34,543.05 posted on Friday.
The market capitalisation, which opened at N11.404 trillion, lost N208 billion or 1.82 per cent to close at N11.196 trillion due to price losses by some blue chips.
Seplat led the losers’ chart by N25 to close at N395 per share.
Nestle came second by N19.98 to close at N840.02, while Guinness lost N6.99 to close at N151.01 per share.
Dangote Cement dipped by N4.9 to close at N175, while Nigerian Breweries dropped N2.12 to close at N170 per share.
Conversely, Total Oil topped the gainers’ chart by N6.53 to close at N162 per share.
Cadbury garnered N2.17 to close at N45.67, while Presco rose by N1.4 to close at N30.2 per share.
Mansard Insurance improved by 26k to close at N3.41 and CCNN appreciated by 16k to close at N11.45 per share.
NAN reports that Stanbic IBTC emerged the most traded stock, accounting for 42.25 million shares worth N1.31 billion.
Transcorp followed with a turnover of 23.06 million shares valued N89.79 million, while UBA sold 18.15 million shares worth N89.18 million.
FBN Holdings traded 18.14 million shares valued N175.29 million and GTBank accounted for 15.74 million shares worth N392.72 million.
In all, a total of 213.606 million shares worth N4.44 billion were traded by investors in 4,398 deals.
This was against the 338.808 million shares valued at N6.38 billion traded in 4,283 deals on Friday.
