Popular Lagos-based caterer, Mayowa Ahmed, who came down with cancer, is dead.
This was revealed by Ahmed’s cousin, Habeeb Odufuye, in two tweets on his Twitter handle on Sunday.
Odufuye tweeted Ahmed’s death at some minutes past 1pm on Sunday.
He tweeted: “By Allah, in who’s hands our lives is, Mayowa Ahmed has left us in this world. We pray that Jannat becomes her home #RipMayowa.
“She tried, we tried but God’s will prevailed #RipMayowa.”
Ahmed’s case came into limelight following the controversy that trailed the fundraiser for her treatment.
There were insinuations that it was a scam meant to defraud Nigerians.
Popular Nollywood actress, Toyin Aimakhu, was one of those that spearheaded the fundraiser.
However, after the fundraiser, there were insinuations that the family defrauded Nigerians because they knew she would no longer make it.
The ovarian cancer had by then reached Stage 4.
The Lagos State Police Command, however, cleared the family of any wrongdoing.
But this was after the account had been frozen for about two weeks and Ahmed’s date of travel to the United Arab Emirates for treatment missed.
She was then taken to South Africa.
